In anticipation of Basil Thaiβs new menu launch, we were engaged to shoot some of their latest dishes. We shot with flay lays to encapsulate the rich and multitudinous ingredients used for each Thai dish. By creating a natural lighting effect and green elements, we were able to breathe new life into these classic Thai dishes with a modern look and feel.

Restaurant Ibid is the brainchild of MaterChef Asia winner Woo Wai Leong, serving up contemporary Chinese cuisine. Simplicity was the key for the styling, to keep the dishes as the focus of the shoot and let the images do the talking. Hence, we kept the styling minimal, with accents of existing ingredients to highlight the cuisineβs flavours, along with small touches of Chinese props and saucers to portray the restaurantβs Oriental roots. Finally, we played around with marble tabletops, earth tone materials, wood and porcelain serve ware to create a visual variation of textures.
Ishiro

Ishiro is a Japanese fusion food stall that specialises in donburis. We shot a series of group shots comprising of their menu items, while their signature dishes were featured as hero shots. Soft lighting and wood textures were used to give it a touch of Japanese minimalism.
Butler Koffee

Fresh on the coffee scene, Butler Koffee is a specialty coffee mobile cart that provides intimate coffee services for private and corporate events. Inspired by founder Alicia Yap, who began her career as a Butler in the UK, we decided to use this as the focal point for the branding. Hence, the logo was adapted from a classic dapper tuxedo. To further highlight the bespoke experience, the photos and copy for Butler Koffee's website and social media platforms placed an emphasis on the human touch to evoke the warmth and sincerity of their handcrafted coffee and personalised service.
McDonald's

In line with McDonald's launch of the Signature Collection, we produced a series of photographs for digital and print collaterals that were featured in outlets, as well as billboards all around Singapore. The Signature Collection is a premium range featuring high quality 'game changing' burgers. To best encapsulate this campaign, we decided on a different approach for the art direction, with dark and moody styling to provide a stark and distinctive visual contrast.

Airbnb

Getting in the holiday spirit, we worked with Airbnb to produce Christmas-themed content for their social media platforms. The idea was to showcase how Christmas is celebrated in different cultures, as both host and guest share their local festive customs. We shot two contrasting festive images, one based on a yuletide feast in Australia and another based in Japan. To provide distinction between the two, we played around with the food styling for direct comparison, while retaining Christmas elements with props styling to showcase the unifying yuletide theme.

It was indeed a privilege to work with Luzerne, a modern heritage tableware brand and Singapore's longest established ceramics producer. For Luzerne's 2017 catalogue, we produced a series of photographs for their new collections β Marble, Web, Scallop & Artichoke and Knit series. To accentuate the differences and unique features of each collection, we experimented with lighting and a myriad of food colours to compliment the texture and hues of the tableware.

XLBCR x Luzerne
Our second project with Luzerne involved a social media collaboration with @xlbcr as a giveaway to engage their followers. This campaign involved the production of one recipe video and two stop-motion clips to promote home cooking and plating with their various collections.

Working hand in hand with multi-national brand Harvey Norman, we collaborated on a 12-part series of food-focused series with the theme of home-cooking made easy. The content created for this campaign aimed to showcase Harvey Norman's electrical kitchen range and were produced in various mediums, including photography stills to videos and blog posts, published on Harvey Norman and @xlbcr's social media platforms. An array of classic and contemporary recipes were developed specifically for this campaign; from hearty mains such as Roast Chicken and Pulled Pork Burgers to tantalising Asian dishes such as Kimchi Tofu Mandu and sweet treats like the Pandan Chiffon Cake.
Nespresso

In collaboration with Nespresso, we got the opportunity to work with award-winning mixologist and founding bartender of 28 Hong Kong Street, Michael Callahan. Together, we produced a series of portraits featuring Callahan's caffeine concoctions using Nespresso's signature blends. The visuals produced were a prelude to the opening of Nespresso's latest outlet at Raffles City Shopping Centre.

We had the pleasure of working with Lady M Singapore, to produce a series of branding collaterals used in-store, online and on their social media platforms. We went for a clean and natural light setting to retain the elegant branding of Lady M and complement the subjects, while employing delicate blooms in the styling to showcase individual crΓͺpe cake flavours.

KYU Coffee Bar is a specialty coffee kiosk launched by Nine Press Group, nestled in the heart of the Central Business District. Based on the ideals of minimalism, we drew inspiration from Japanese Zen for the KYU Coffee Bar's branding. The idea was to encourage simplicity seeking in the hectic pace of life in today's world, and finding a moment of tranquility while savouring a freshly brewed cuppa coffee. Hence for the art direction, we employed a pastel colour scheme paired with light blush hues to evoke a sense of genuine warmth and cordial service.

Ninepress is an online coffee portal built on the love and passion for coffee and its craft. As a new and slightly indie collective, we decided to go for a simple yet distinctive design for the logo for it to easily gain top-of-mind recall. Hence, we adjoined the numerical '9' and latter 'P', pairing the monogram with an edgy san serif font. As for our photography direction, we opted for a dark mood, capturing subjects up-close in their natural aesthetic to illuminate the natural beauty of coffee beans and the process.

Located at Purvis Street, Clinton Street Bakery is a renowned franchise from New York City which serves breakfast specials, with fluffy buttermilk pancakes as their specialty. The brief was simple, to present their signature brunch menu with American diner vibes. To achieve this, bright lighting was used along with a variation of textures, with the dishes served with Clinton Street Bakeryβs Green-rimmed white plants to accentuate its branding.

Kindred Teas is a local brand inspired by unique cultures around the world. For this project, we collaborated with Manic Design and the art direction was to employ a pastel colour scheme that complements the tea packaging. We went for minimal styling by placing some raw ingredients used in the tea to highlight the flavour profiles of each blend.

Joe & Dough was founded in 2009 and is known for their speciality coffee, gourmet sandwiches and handcrafted bakes. As part of their new menu launches and Christmas-themed marketing efforts, we were commissioned to shoot and style a wide array of sandwiches, pizza as well as Christmas log cakes. Many raw ingredients were used as supporting props to enhance the dish and grey backdrops were mostly used to showcase the elements of the main dish captured.

Mellower Coffee is a speciality coffee chain from Shanghai and is one of the leading cafe chains in China. We were commissioned to shoot their Ondeh x Latte which was specially concocted for Singaporeβs flagship opening. To bring across the collaboration theme, we went for a Peranakan theme with elements of Nyonya tiles in the background. Paired with dark tones, it gave their speciality drinks the spotlight it deserved.
